Scarlets have announced Wales international center Eddie James has signed a new contract, securing his future with the region ahead of the 2026-27 season. The 24-year-old, who made his international debut in 2024 and became a regular under head coach Steve Tandy in 2025-26, has 11 caps for Wales to his name.

This extension comes despite James still having a year remaining on his previous contract, underscoring the Scarlets' commitment to retaining key Welsh talent. James expressed his strong connection to the club, stating it was "an easy decision to extend my contract" given his history of growing up supporting the Scarlets.

Building for the Future in Llanelli

In addition to re-signing existing talent, Scarlets have been active in the transfer market, bringing in ten new players. Notable acquisitions include fly-half Gareth Anscombe, who returns to Wales, props Chris Apoua and Corey Domachowski, and All Black Cullen Grace, along with several other forwards and a full-back as new additions. These moves signal a significant overhaul and strengthening of the squad.

Club's Ethos of Player Development

The club prides itself on its ethos of developing homegrown players, aiming to provide a supportive environment where young Welsh athletes can achieve their ambitions while representing the Scarlets. Davies noted this approach is key to their long-term strategy, ensuring local talent has a pathway to professional rugby at Parc y Scarlets. James and the other international players are expected to return to training next week, integrating with the squad as preparations continue.
