PREM Rugby Unveils 2026/27 Schedule, Saints to Open at Home
Premiership Rugby has released its full fixture list for the 2026/27 season, with defending champions Northampton Saints set to kick off their campaign at home against Newcastle Red Bulls. The announcement signals the official start of planning for another season culminating at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham with the final scheduled for Saturday, June 19.
Northampton Saints enter the new season as title holders, having secured their second championship in three years. They achieved this by defeating Exeter Chiefs 26-17 in last month's final.
The upcoming PREM season will commence on Friday, September 25, featuring a double-header. The Saints versus Newcastle match takes top billing, while Harlequins will host Bath at the Stoop simultaneously.
Season Highlights and Key Dates
Big stadium games are also a highlight, spread across rounds eight, 11, 12, 13, and 15. These matches will take rugby to major venues like Principality Stadium, Allianz Stadium, and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The regular season run-in begins in Round 17, with the final round of league play concluding a week later. The playoffs will then commence on the weekend of June 12, culminating in the showpiece final on June 19. Fans can follow all the action, including latest rugby scores and results as the season progresses.
PREM Rugby CEO's Outlook
Massie-Taylor emphasized that the fixture release allows supporters to anticipate the season, circle local derbies, plan away days, and look forward to the return of Gallagher PREM. He specifically highlighted the opening night clash between the champions and the ambitious Newcastle Red Bulls on TNT Sports, as well as the Derby Weekend, Festive Fixtures, and big stadium events, stating that the calendar is designed to offer fans more opportunities to support their clubs.
The CEO also mentioned a landmark agreement to change the league's operating model earlier in the year. This agreement, he explained, positions PREM Rugby well for its plans to expand the league by the 2029/30 season.
Global Rugby Context
The unveiling of the PREM Rugby fixtures ensures supporters have their calendars marked for a season filled with key matchups and crucial moments, building on the league's recent successes and aiming for continued expansion.
